Show home photography in Manchester

Here’s a recent shoot for a Manchester based property developer. They had just completed their new development and needed some show home photography for their sales literature and website, as well as estate agency photography for their agent.

I’ve done a fair amount of shoots like this of show homes /show houses, apartments and more recently Airbnb photography. Property developers are demanding clients and I always try my best to make the interiors look as good as possible!

I break the property photography down into three different types of shots – firstly wide angle photographs to maximise the space and show the relationship of one room to another. The second group of shots are slightly zoomed in showing a run of kitchen units or a bed-head, and the third group of shots are ‘arty’ little details that can be used as filler shots on brochures and websites.

A property photography shoot such as this one, a three bed semi, takes me about an hour to an hour and a half to shoot depending on whether I need to set up any flash heads.

Show House Photography, technical stuff!

For most of the shots I shoot using my full frame Canon 5D with the 16-40 mm lens. Most of the exposures are 1 or 2 sec so I always use a tripod for interiors and use the cameras ‘mirror up’ anti vibration setting plus the 2 second self timer. If I use flash then it’s usually my off-camera Godox flash head on a pole above the camera, although if possible I just shoot using available light.
